በምክር ቤቱ የከተማ፣ መሰረተ ልማትና ትራንስፖርት ጉዳዮች ቋሚ ኮሚቴ " መሬት የመንግስት እና የህዝብ እንደመሆኑ ለኢንቨስትመንት የሚመጡ ዜጎች መሬቱን የመሸጥ እና የመለወጥ መብት የላቸውም " ብሏል።

የኢትዮጵያዊያንን መብት በማይነካ መልኩ የውጭ ሀገር ዜጎች የመኖርያ ቤት ባለቤት በመሆን ኢንቨስትመንት ላይ እንዲሰማሩ ሥራዎች ይሰራሉ ሲል ገልጷል።

የውጭ ሀገር ዜጎች ወደ ኢትዮጵያ ገብተው በመኖሪያ ቤት ባለቤትነት ላይ ኢንቨስት እንዲያደርጉ የተቀመጠው የገንዘብ መጠን 150 ሺህ ዶላር ነው።

The House of Peoples’ Representatives has passed a proclamation that grants foreign nationals the right to own immovable residential property in Ethiopia.

According to the Parliament’s Standing Committee on Urban Development, Basic Infrastructure, and Transport Affairs,
“Since land is the property of the government and the people, foreign investors are not granted the right to sell or transfer land ownership.”

It was clarified that foreign nationals can participate in the real estate investment sector by owning residential property, provided it does not infringe upon the rights of Ethiopian citizens.

The law stipulates that foreign nationals entering Ethiopia must invest at least USD 150,000 to be eligible for residential property ownership.

It was also noted that this investment threshold of USD 150,000 will be subject to revision over time as needed.
