ኢትዮጵያ 105 አገራትን ባቀፈው የአለማቀፉ አቪዬሽን ድርጅት ቁልፍ የህዝብ መረጃ ልውውጥ ስርዓት (PKD) አባል መሆኗን የሚያረጋግጥ ሰርተፍኬት ከተቋሙ ዋና መቀመጫ ከሆነችው ካናዳ ሞንትሪያል ከሚገኘዉ አለም አቀፉ የሲቪል አቬሽን ተቋም ተቀብላለች።

ኢትዮጵያ የዚህ ማዕቀፍ አባል መሆኗ የኢትዮጵያን ፓስፖርት የያዙ ዜጎች በአባል አገራቱ በሚንቀሳቀሱበት ወቅት ያለምንም እንግልት እንዲጓጓዙ የሚያስችል ሲሆን ወደ ኢትዮጵያ በየብስም ሆነ በአየር በተጭበረበረ የጉዞ ሰነድ ለመምጣት የሚሞክሩ አካላትን በቀላሉ ለመለየት የሚረዳና በአገር ላይ ሊቃጣ የሚችል የደህንነት ስጋትን አስቀድሞ ለመከላከል የሚያግዝ ነው።

ኢትዮጵያ ወደዚህ ማዕቀፍ በይፋ መቀላቀሏን ተከትሎ የአለማቀፉ አቪዬሽን ድርጅት አባል አገራት ተወካዮችና የተቋሙ ከፍተኛ አመራሮች እንዲሁም ሌሎች አካላት በተገኙበት አገሪቱ ያላትን ሁለንተናዊ አቅም የሚያስተዋውቅ መድረክ ተዘጋጅቷል።

በዚህ ወቅትም የኢትዮጵያን የአቪዬሽን ገፅታ፣ የኢሚግሬሽን ስርዓትና አሁናዊ ሁኔታ እንዲሁም የኢትዮጵያን የቱሪዝምና የቢዝነስ አቅሞች የሚያስተዋውቁ ገለፃዎች ተደርገዋል።

በስነስርዓቱ ላይ ንግግር ያደረጉት የኢሚግሬሽንና ዜግነት አገልግሎት ዋና ዳይሬክተር ወ/ሮ ሰላማዊት ዳዊት " ኢትዮጵያ የዚህ ማዕቀፍ (PKD) አባል መሆኗ ዜጎች በሚሄዱበት አገር ዘመናዊና ቀልጣፋ አገልግሎት እንዲያገኙ ከማድረጉ ባሻገር የአገርን ደህንነት በመጠበቅ ረገድ አይነተኛ ሚና የሚጫወት ይጫወታል " ብለዋል።

" ኢትዮጵያ ጠንካራ በሆነው የአለም አቀፍ አቪዬሽን ትብብር ስርዓት ውስጥ የላቀ ቴክኖሎጂን መጠቀሟ ድንበሯን ከመጠበቅ ባለፈ ለአለም አቀፉ ማህበረሰብ የጋራ ደኅንነት መጠበቅ ያላትን ቁርጠኝነትም የሚያሳይ ውሳኔ ነው " ሱሉ ጠቁመዋል።

የካናዳ ትራንስፖርት ሚኒስትር ምክትል ሚኒስትር ኒኮላስ ሮብሰን " ኢትዮጵያ ወደዚህ ስርዓት በይፋ መቀላቀሏ በአቪዬሽን መስክ የምትሰራውን ስራ በዓለም የታመነ እንዲሆን ያደርጋል " ብለዋል።

" በተለይም በርካታ ዜጎችን ወደ ተለያዩ ክፍለ-ዓለማት የሚያጓጉዝ የግዙፍ አየር መንገድ ባለቤት በመሆኗ ይህን ማዕቀፍ መቀላቀሏ የሚደነቅ ውሳኔ ነው " ሲሉ ጠቁመዋል።

የአለማቀፉ ሲቪል አቪዬሽን ድርጅት (ICAO) ፕሬዝዳንት ሳልቫቶሬ ሻኪታኖ ኢትዮጵያ ወደ ማዕቀፉ በመግባት የተሰማቸውን ደስታ በመግለፅ ተቋማቸው የሚያደርገውን ድጋፍ አጠናክሮ እንደሚቀጥል አረጋግጠዋል።

Ethiopia has officially received its certificate of membership in the Public Key Directory (PKD) system of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), a global body headquartered in Montreal, Canada. This system facilitates the secure exchange of public key data for e-passport verification.

By becoming a member of the PKD — which includes 105 countries — Ethiopia joins a global initiative aimed at enhancing border security and improving international travel documentation standards.

Benefits for Ethiopian Citizens:
Ethiopia’s membership in this directory allows Ethiopian passport holders to travel across member states without delays or unnecessary suspicion, enjoying modern and efficient services. It also enables Ethiopian authorities to identify fraudulent travel documents more easily and enhances national security by proactively preventing potential threats.

To mark Ethiopia's formal entry into the system, a dedicated event was held with representatives from ICAO member states, ICAO leadership, and various other stakeholders, showcasing Ethiopia’s dual capacity in aviation and immigration.

Presentations and Remarks:
At the event, detailed presentations were made on Ethiopia’s aviation progress, immigration systems, and its tourism and business potential.

Mrs. Selamawit Dawit, Director General of Immigration and Nationality Services, stated:

“Ethiopia's membership in the PKD not only enables citizens to access modern travel services in other countries, but it also plays a vital role in protecting national security.”

She added:

“By integrating into this robust global aviation framework and utilizing advanced technology, Ethiopia is demonstrating its commitment not only to protecting its own borders but also contributing to global public safety.”

Nicholas Robinson, Deputy Minister of Transport for Canada, remarked:

“Ethiopia’s accession to this system reinforces its global credibility in the aviation sector.”

He further stated:

“Especially for a country that operates a major airline transporting millions across continents, this is a wise and impressive decision.”

ICAO President Salvatore Sciacchitano expressed his appreciation for Ethiopia’s involvement and assured that ICAO will continue supporting Ethiopia in this initiative.
